worksheets for oagee poster: “geography — from here to there” concepts of geographic thinking series - geographic perspective 2018 oagee fall conference - call for presenters email print written by oagee admin on 17 may 2018 on 17 may 2018 . posted in fall 2018 conference . hits: 507 oagee fall conference 2018 the language of geography graphicacy & geographic thinking concepts ridley college, st. catharines on fri. nov.9 & sat. nov.10, 2018 call for presenters oagee fall conference 2018 the language of geography graphicacy & geographic thinking concepts workshop and presentation proposals are now being accepted for the oagee fall 2018 conference which will be held at ridley college in st. catharines, from november 9-10, 2018. the deadline for submissions is sunday july 29, 2018. sessions will run friday morning, friday afternoon and saturday morning. each session will be 50 minutes in length, with the option for a double session if additional time is required. field trip requests of 2-3 hours are preferred. each classroom will hold approximately 20-25 participants with chairs and tables. wireless internet access, a projector, speakers, whiteboard(s) and connecting cables (hdmi, vga, 3.5 mm audio) are available in each session room. participants are asked to bring their own laptop computers or smart devices when required. a small lecture theatre with terraced bench seating and the possibility of a portable projector is also available. all applicable workshop and presentation proposals will be considered for the conference. however, we are encouraging potential presenters to consider providing sessions that focus on the following highlighted session themes: graphicacy (literacy with maps, images and graphs) inquiry-based learning, active learning, project-based learning experiential learning geospatial technologies embedding indigenous perspectives concepts of geographic thinking modern learning ell (english language learners) french-language learning global citizenship assessment social justice and equity each accepted workshop or presentation proposal will receive one $100 registration discount for the conference. additional presenters, if they wish to participate in oagee fall 2018 conference activities beyond their session, are asked to register separately for the conference. notification regarding submissions will be provided at the end of august 2018. submit proposals online at http://oagee.org/forms/presentations.php if you require technical support with the online forms, please contact becker associates at 416-538-1650. thanks kingston - you rock! email print written by shawn hughes on 08 may 2018 on 08 may 2018 . posted in news and events . hits: 244 a huge thank you to our conference coordinators, anne smith and brenda scarlett, for their incredible dedication and a terrific 2018 oagee spring conference in kingston. we started the day with a fantastic forest therapy tour through the relaxed atmosphere of the wetlands and surrounding forest at the little cataraqui creek conservation area . a kingston transit bus transported us to our next destination. en route, dan hendry, sustainable initiative co-ordinator with the limestone district school board, spoke to us about a very successful initiative that provides every student with free transit. essentially, they seek to change the culture by teaching young people how to use public transit and that it’s “ok to ride the bus”. our bus arrive at the miller museum of geology at queen’s university , where we explored an enormous collection of the earth’s rocks, minerals, fossils, dinosaur exhibit, and received an overview of the geological history of the kingston area. mark badham, miller museum of geology curator , demonstrated his deep appreciation for geology and provided us with a guided field excursion to rock outcrops in kingston and the surrounding areas. “it's a cliche, but every rock tells a story," badham said.
